4K playback needs about 15-25 Mbps of steady bandwidth and uses roughly 7 GB per hour; 1080p needs about 5-8 Mbps and uses roughly 3 GB per hour. If your home Wi-Fi is shared across several devices, or your plan's upload speed is modest, start at 1080p and move up only if playback stays smooth for a few days. HEVC-encoded streams — a compression format that keeps roughly the same picture at about half the bitrate of older H.264 streams — help if your app and Firestick model support it, since it eases the load on both your connection and the device.

Open live TV or VOD and confirm a stream plays smoothly for a few minutes with no repeated freezing. If one channel or one category stalls while everything else plays fine, that's a narrow, isolated issue rather than a setup mistake — switching away and back to the same channel is a fast way to tell: if it recovers instantly, the earlier stall was a session hiccup, not your Wi-Fi. If nothing plays at all, recheck your login details for typos before assuming the service itself is down. A working setup should hold a steady picture across live TV, a movie, and at least two different channel categories before you call it done.
