It decides how the guide is drawn, how many channel groups stay visible, how large a buffer it fills before playing, which decoder it hands the video to, and how it recovers after a stall. It does not control whether a feed exists, how much capacity the server has at 8pm on a Sunday, or how quickly a broken channel gets repaired. That split explains most disappointment. Others are sideloaded, which means turning on developer options, allowing installs from unknown sources for a helper app, and downloading the package. Two rules keep this clean. If an install fails with a parse error, you almost certainly pulled a build for a different processor. If the download itself fails, that is usually a network block rather than a broken file, and a different DNS resolver often clears it.

Because the recommendation and the reader rarely share a setup. Someone running a 300-channel personal list on a wired 4K box has a completely different experience from someone loading a full international lineup over Wi-Fi on an entry-level stick.
