Every channel in an IPTV playlist carries a set of attributes, and one of them, tvg-logo in an M3U file or an equivalent field in an Xtream Codes response, points to an image file hosted on the provider's servers. When you open TiviMate, IPTV Smarters, or a similar app, it reads that field and downloads the logo the first time it loads the channel list, then caches it locally so it doesn't fetch the same image every time you scroll past. The icon isn't baked into the video stream, and the app doesn't generate it. It's a separate small file pulled from a separate address, which is exactly why an icon and a stream can behave independently of each other.

Because the logo and the stream travel on different paths, one can break without touching the other. If the server hosting the icon images goes down, changes address, or gets reorganized during a provider update, the app has nothing to fetch and shows a blank tile or a generic placeholder instead. The video feed, coming from a completely different streaming server, keeps working the whole time. This causes real confusion, since people assume a missing icon means a channel dropped or a subscription lapsed, when it usually just means one small image request failed. Confirm the channel itself still plays by tapping it directly rather than judging by the thumbnail alone. If icons come back on their own after a few minutes, the provider likely fixed a logo host on their end, and that happens without any action needed from you.
