How do you separate an app fault from a service fault in two minutes?
Check the scope, then switch away and back. One channel failing while its neighbors run means the source at the far end is down, and no setting on your stick reaches it. A whole category failing together is server side. Everything failing at once points at the line, the player or the session. Now play a failing channel, jump to another, and jump straight back. Recovery on the second attempt means the session stalled rather than your bandwidth running dry, which rules out the explanation most tutorials reach for first. Only after both tests is it sensible to start changing buffer values, and by then you usually know you do not need to.

Slow name resolution shows up as a long black gap before playback rather than as stuttering once it runs. Changing the resolver in the network settings is a two-minute test that either helps immediately or not at all.
