Fire OS models, which include the Fire TV Stick 4K, the 4K Max and the older Android-based HD sticks, expose Developer options and an Install Unknown Apps toggle, so a player app can be sideloaded with the Downloader app. The Fire TV Stick 4K Select and the newest HD stick run Vega OS instead, a Linux-based platform that does not run Android APK files at all. On those there is no unknown-sources toggle to find, and installing outside the Appstore requires a registered developer account and a USB cable to a computer.
